While working towards a physical therapy program, Carl graduated from the Lexington Healing Arts Academy, and earned his National Academy of Sports Medicine certificate. He will also be receiving his ACSM certification in June of 2017. During his five years of training, Carl has worked with clients of all ages and goals desired.
Carl grew up doing Taekwondo. During his 13 years practicing, he was able to achieve his second degree black belt. Carl also played various sports during high school and likes to keep his training similar to sport specific. He has competed in several power lifting competitions and is planning to run his first half marathon this June!
Carl is looking forward to working with the people of Manayunk and Never Give Up! Hoping to make our part of Philadelphia the healthiest, happiest and most fit around. He believes that science and safe based programs are the most beneficial while keeping it fun and entertaining!

Macalla is not only an NGU Group Fitness Instructor, but also is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and can whip you into shape!
She holds the type of character that could be called contagious and exemplary. While Macalla brings with her to class a tremendously bright personality, a passion for fitness, an appreciation for life and a drive to always get better... She is also prepared and trained to perfection. She is always working towards her goals in whatever facet of life they may pertain to.
Macalla emerged as one of the most consistent competitors the Towson University gymnastics team has ever had, which is a testament to her ability to stay calm and focused under pressure.
What is most important, however, is Macalla the person. She is extremely passionate and dedicated. She has a great desire to continually gain knowledge and experience that will not only help to improve her own mentoring skills, but will also help those individuals she works with. Macalla is the type of person that pushes her and others to become better than they were yesterday, a belief that is embodied in the essence of the N.G.U. core. She will help push you to become the best person you not only want to be, but also will help push you through the battles in life and in training to become the person you may of never thought you could be.
Ali Jackson (formally, Ali Cook) is founder, owner and head trainer of Never Give Up. Currently living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ali is a graduate of Villanova University (BA- Arts and Sciences) and currently attends Graduate School to earn her Masters in Secondary and Special Education.
Ali is an Ironman Triathlete who races Olympic and Ironman distances, and consistently ranks in the top overall standings, including podium finishes within her age group. Ali has qualified for the Age Group National Championships and Regional Championships! Her numerous certifications will have you seeing results in both your own personalized goals and have you living a healthy lifestyle and loving it!
Ali is a retired nationally- ranked, show jumping equestrian and held ranking in the top national standings for over fifteen years. When she was 17 years old, she had a devastating surgery that forced her to move on from the sport of Show Jumping. Despite the doctors saying she would not be able to run again, Ali proved them wrong by Never Giving Up.
In addition to her passion for fitness and healthy lifestyle, Ali’s love for education and teaching has transferred over to create an invincible combination she utilizes in her training methods. Recognizing goal coaching and performance evaluations as an integral part of any success, Ali also has a nack for adjusting to anyone’s individual needs. With high energy and focused goal- oriented training and instruction style, her sessions and classes will not only motivate you, but also challenge you and have you seeing results in no time.
Ali’s hope with Never Give Up in Manayunk is that athletes of all levels will finally be able to enter the studio, feel comfortable to let go, try their hardest and walk out feeling overwhelmed with gratification and get results fast, but in healthy ways.
Lisa is extremely passionate about health and fitness. She graduated from Cabrini College and received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Sports Science. She has always been an active individual but throughout her college years she grew a greater interest in the field. Fitness became her way of life and with this mindset she was determined to share what she knew with her family and friends. Lisa’s interest is total body conditioning, functional training, muscular strength and endurance training. She has experience working with different special populations and is determined to provide fitness to any individual regardless of their limitations.
Leah worked full-time as a corporate fitness professional for a large government agency in the DC-area before relocating to Philadelphia in January 2017 to pursue her Master's in Sport Business at Temple University. Leah can't wait to get to know her participants at NGU Training: She finds herself continually challenged by her participants and hopes to inspire them to do what they think they can't.

The invincible match between cardio and strength allows each athlete to work through these workouts at their own pace, while reaching their maximum potential and getting the most results out of their workout. Each class is constructed differently depending on the instructor, BUT every class will NOT differ in the general format: an interval and circuit training system that will have your heart pumping, using techniques such as (but not limited to) timed intervals and tabata style exercises.
The interval training and the weight circuits each athlete will complete will are designed to maximize fat burning, burn more calories and build the muscle and strength you want to reach your personal goals, whether that be gain muscle mass or simply tone it up!
