Morgan Dowd

Morgan is a NGU Group Fitness Instructor, NASM Certified Personal Trainer and graduate of Saint Joseph's University. Growing up she was constantly active as a gymnast & competitive cheerleader, until an ankle injury ended her college cheerleading career at Rutgers University. It was at that point that she became extremely conscious of her body & weight which ultimately spiraled into a nearly fatal eating disorder. After 4 years in recovery, she consciously chose to turn her unhealthy obsession with exercise into a healthy outlet to manage stress and anxiety. She believes that getting that second chance at life has only fueled her passion to inspire wellness through exercise. Morgan has a passion for continued education in functional training and nutrition in order to provide the best for all of her clients and classes.

Ann Rejrat

Ann comes to us from Scranton, Pa. She moved to Philadelphia to pursue a degree in Journalism at Temple University in 2008 and fell in love with the area. Ann has a lifelong passion for fitness starting from when she was a child trying to keep up physically with her 5 older siblings. She played numerous sports through high school and college including swimming, softball, cross-country running, and track and field. In college she also worked at the University’s Campus Recreation Department where she continued to grow her love of fitness. As she has gotten older her approach towards fitness has developed to focus on not only the physical results but also the mental. To her, workouts should be just as fun and engaging as they are physical. People should leave their workouts feeling a sense of accomplishment not defeat.

She is a AAAI-ISMA certified Personal Trainer, AAAI-ISMA certified Cycling Instructor, and AAAI-ISMA certified Yoga Teacher.

Ann is excited to bring her lifelong love of fitness and health to the members of Never Give Up Training. She hopes to grow with her students as they travel on their fitness path towards their goals.

Carl Flotka

Carl flotka is a fitness instructor and personal trainer at Never Give Up. He is currently working towards getting into a physical therapy program. Originally from Michigan, with stops in Louisville and Lexington, he currently lives in Philadelphia, PA.

While working towards a physical therapy program, Carl graduated from the Lexington Healing Arts Academy, and earned his National Academy of Sports Medicine certificate. He will also be receiving his ACSM certification in June of 2017. During his five years of training, Carl has worked with clients of all ages and goals desired.

Carl grew up doing Taekwondo. During his 13 years practicing, he was able to achieve his second degree black belt. Carl also played various sports during high school and likes to keep his training similar to sport specific. He has competed in several power lifting competitions and is planning to run his first half marathon this June!

Carl is looking forward to working with the people of Manayunk and Never Give Up! Hoping to make our part of Philadelphia the healthiest, happiest and most fit around. He believes that science and safe based programs are the most beneficial while keeping it fun and entertaining!

Lamar Patterson

Lamar has been active in sports and fitness for over 20 years, with experience in high school and simi pro athletics ( basketball, track, baseball and boxing). Lamar attended Berean Institute for computer science, later transferring to Community College of Philadelphia for a degree in education where he found his true passion for Health and fitness. While attending CCP Lamar was Certified as a Personal Trainer through W.I.T.S
(World International Training ) later attaining certifications through PTA Global and Dotfit.

Philosophy: Fitness Training geared to all levels of performance, specializing in Strength and Conditioning, while teaching and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Fitness Specialties: Plyometrics, weight lose management… strength and conditioning

Macalla Curtis

Macalla is not only an NGU Group Fitness Instructor, but also is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and can whip you into shape! 

She holds the type of character that could be called contagious and exemplary. While Macalla brings with her to class a tremendously bright personality, a passion for fitness, an appreciation for life and a drive to always get better... She is also prepared and trained to perfection. She is always working towards her goals in whatever facet of life they may pertain to.

Macalla emerged as one of the most consistent competitors the Towson University gymnastics team has ever had, which is a testament to her ability to stay calm and focused under pressure.


What is most important, however, is Macalla the person. She is extremely passionate and dedicated. She has a great desire to continually gain knowledge and experience that will not only help to improve her own mentoring skills, but will also help those individuals she works with. Macalla is the type of person that pushes her and others to become better than they were yesterday, a belief that is embodied in the essence of the N.G.U. core. She will help push you to become the best person you not only want to be, but also will help push you through the battles in life and in training to become the person you may of never thought you could be.

Lisa Gomez

Lisa is extremely passionate about health and fitness. She graduated from Cabrini College and received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Sports Science. She has always been an active individual but throughout her college years she grew a greater interest in the field. Fitness became her way of life and with this mindset she was determined to share what she knew with her family and friends. Lisa’s interest is total body conditioning, functional training, muscular strength and endurance training. She has experience working with different special populations and is determined to provide fitness to any individual regardless of their limitations.

The invincible match between cardio and strength allows each athlete to work through these workouts at their own pace, while reaching their maximum potential and getting the most results out of their workout. Each class is constructed differently depending on the instructor, BUT every class will NOT differ in the general format: an interval and circuit training system that will have your heart pumping, using techniques such as (but not limited to) timed intervals and tabata style exercises.

The interval training and the weight circuits each athlete will complete will are designed to maximize fat burning, burn more calories and build the muscle and strength you want to reach your personal goals, whether that be gain muscle mass or simply tone it up!
